First, for dinner I love the pumpkin ravioli, it's a must try. Its AMAZING. Second, I went here for brunch and got the boneless ribs with poached eggs. Also, AMAZING. Meat was tender and soft and it went well with the poached eggs. Add some hotsauce and it's amazing.

Came here for Valentines and their 60 dollar per person menu. Valet parking 3.50 right off the bat but try to find street parking 1st entree was the Lobster Bisque I loved it 2nd entree tortellini also great I believe it was with crab meat I could be wrong in between they threw in some bread with a olive oil mix which was also great got 2 serving the main course consisted of a filet mignon i ordered it medium and they gave me a large LOL it was also good I made the mistake of asking for steak sauce cause I'm a caveman. The waiter was a very nice young African American gentleman who was very attentive the funny thing was the food servers spent a lot of time looking at the map probably additional unfamiliar seating for Valentines but overall I loved it and I cant wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Oh yeah my wife liked it also but I guess i had to take her

Expensive Italian food that is well prepared and served in a cozy, romantic dining room with a fireplace. Lots of fancy cars outside so I guess we were dining among fancy people. Good date night for those in Studio City/North Hollywood/Burbank. I have a slight preference for Firenze Osteria over Ca Del Sole. The Osso Buco I had here had a well balanced sauce and risotto, but the meat was not quite as tender and luscious I was hoping for. The bone marrow was yummy though. We tried and very much enjoyed the pumpkin mezzelune pasta as a primi.

I love this place and have been back there several times over the past few years. They have somewhat of a rustic look, so don't expect a modern atmosphere, but their food, drinks and service is excellent. They have a great out-door patio for summer dining as well. I would highly recommend the "fragolino" from the drinks menu, which is not too sweet, but tangy and refreshing. The Osso Buco is always a good pick, as is any of their ravioli, which they make in house. I haven't tried the entire menu (yet), but in general I find that if I like how a dish sounds I will certainly like the dish. Quite literally everything I've ever had there has been excellent!

Lovely atmosphere, staff is very welcoming and friendly, but the food is on the salty side. I had their Venetian-style spaghetti (Bigoli Ca' Del Sole) and it was salty I couldn't finish it. My friend had the Linguine Alle Vongole and she had the same complaint.

Been going to Ca Del Sole for several years. I think the service is friendly. They have a very cute outside patio. Have some favorite dishes: the octopus salad, homemade sausage w/polenta, whole roasted chicken with potatoes, gnocchi with duck ragout, also excited that they started offering Gluten Free Pasta to substitute in some of their dishes. Overall I enjoy coming to this restaurant for a down to earth meal, comfortable setting, good for family dinners.

You can feel the Italian old world charm when you arrive. The service was great, the wine selection was impressive, they even had a bottle of Italian Rose which was really great. The dinner menu had great selection of various Italian dishes. We all ordered the special for that evening which was outstanding. Great place to dine and enjoy the evening.

There, you've done it. Ca' Del Sole, though I'm never sure if I'm pronouncing your damn name right. Is it ca del sole like soul? Or is it Solé with an extra syllable? Irregardless (as my boss likes to say, hee hee) you've entered the upper echelon of our local restaurant choices. Five stars! [pause for applause] Everytime we take friends to your establishment they are impressed. A couple of visits ago, we took a friend by for dinner. After the Salumeria appetizer and a couple glasses of good red wine our meal came. After a few tastes of the Cappellacci she ordered (spinach tortelloni with gorgonzola inside) she looked up and said, "This is the best thing I've had in a long time." It was such a genuine moment. I love your restaurant, and every time we go there is a treat.

friendly staff, we like the ambiance in the patio dining, the best garden salad but the food are a little bit salty for our taste.

The service was great! Our waiter was very attentive, and our party of 10 got sat immediately (with a reservation). The food was less than average. The gnocci came out cold, and when we pointed this out it came back mocrowaved. The steak was terrible, tasted like a steak we would get at denny's. The salad we got with artichoke was awesome though so you can't go wrong with this salad, and the calamari was great. The rest of the food was just alright.

  • Karen R.

The patio is beautiful...sets you in a good mood. But the food is not good. I know what really good Italian food tastes like and this is a far cry from it. I came back from Italy 3 weeks ago and while I wasn't going to expect good Italian food in California I was hyped up by the reviews and my plate was so bad I didn't finish it. It was so salty I couldn't take it anymore. The lemonade is carbonated so watch out for that...but so are a lot of lemonades in Europe...so maybe they want to copy that? The lasagna which they recommended sucked! I was so disappointed. So rarely am I thoroughly disappointed. The waitress was very polite...but so unfortunate that such a pretty place sucks bad in the cuisine. Terrible.

I had dinner with friends, love the Burrata salad and the angel hair with shrimp really yummy. Denis the manager was very attentive and took very good care of us. The staff is always friendly and great atmosphere on the patio with the lovey cabanas. Oh I also love the pumpkin ravioli....Thanks for the reminder Melissa. I highly recommend it.

So my date requested Italian food for our second date and I really wanted to surprise him since he works at an Italian restaurant and I wanted to top what he served where he works at. So I wanted to go all out! I googled "Romantic Italian Restaurant Los Angeles" and this is restaurant came up. I read ton of reviews and looked at a lot of pictures. I made reservations 2 days before our date just to be sure. I did not know if it was necessary since we were going to enjoy happy hour first.I made a little note on the reservation letting them know about this and that we were planning to eat dinner afterwards. When we got to the restaurant, it was like they were expecting us! They knew exactly who I was because they had called me to confirm hours before and they did not forget that we were going to get happy hour first. When we left the bar after Happy Hour, they led us to a more secluded part of the restaurant. We were treated like royalty! They knew all their wine and were able to pair it up with our meal perfectly! The food was so delicious and my date said that they do not serve food that good where he works. I highly recommend this spot for a date, its so romantic and the ambiance is so peaceful. Make sure to make a reservation I thinks that's what made it extra special!

This restaurant is not anything to write home about. I had the special, which was a seafood pasta and it was just ok. The place looks dated and unexciting. May go back one day to try the pumpkin ravioli that everyone is raving about.

  • Duffy D.

Duffy D's undone list of things that should be done yet isn't done: ... 498. Ca Del Sole's Yelp review. ... ********** To finish a review I started in about 1954: Man was it a lovely day and to top it off with a meeting in the lovely Ca Del Sole was a dream within a dream within a dream, sorta like Inception but less cool and with a less attractive lead character. Stepping in after valeting my 1982 Honda Civic hatchback I am greeted by what I think is a giant at first but after focusing my eyes I realize it's a normal man. "Table, or standing room only?" He asks. I smile and show him my badge. He grins and walks me through the kitchen to my dinner party. "Please announce me." I request. I gesture to my date, who blushes. The host obliges. "Sirs and madams, the royal family has arrived." He winks at me, and I hand him a Lunchable. "Grand to be here..." I start with my speech. Halfway through I realize that speeches are better when smoking, so I ask the host before he leaves to open up a window so the kids won't cough. I light up a Parliament. "A normal man" I continue "would be scared in the face of such elements." One member of our dinner party gestures for me to sit down and another tells me the window wasn't opened and a small child coughed. I feel bad and I'm ready to go. My date, though, is across the room catching up with an ex that's better looking and makes more money than me. I shout across the table and ask her if she had it better with him and she shrugs and continues to talk to him. I finally sit down, defeated. "The pasta is great here." I'm advised. "The drinks are strong" I'm told. "It's a great date spot." Somebody whispers. "The outside area you can smoke in and not have children cough." "A little pricey but you will be able to afford it every now and again." I order mojitos and smoke cigarettes until my asthma is triggered.

I had been wanting to try this place for SO long! I wish I would have left happier:( First off, I don't eat full meals, I never have. Either you bring home leftovers, share a plate or deal with the fact you're leaving half your pai8d for items on a plate to be thrown out. I decided to share a three course meal for $26 with my partner. The minutes I ordered for us, the waitress was applaud at our request to share. She said it was no problem, although you could tell by her tone that she wasn't happy. The rest of the meal, her service was 'poor.' We saw a great salad consisting of Goat cheese, caramelized onion, arugula, & grapes. Sounds good right? It came out and looked amazing too, it unfortunately was way too oily and had nearly no taste from the bland vinaigrette dressing. Second course was the Spada Swordfish. This was a great dish! Light, and fantastic if you like fish (Id recommended no olives, as their taste is too strong for me.) Our last course was a dish called Fromaggio. It consisted of walnut bread, cheese and fruit. Again very light and good.... not necessarily worth the amount we paid for it. Probably won't be back here again, disappointing aspects: The service and prices.

We came to this restaurant shortly after moving to toluca lake, and decided to try it out after seeing the good reviews on yelp. Once again, yelp did not fail. First, the bread comes with an olive tampenade that is TO DIE FOR. We couldn't stop eating it! And our first course hadn't even come out yet. For appetizer, we had their crabcake, which was so fresh and whose crab chunks were so big you could've sworn you were in maryland watching the fishermen lug them out of the Chesapeake. We followed that up with the pumpkin ravioli and the zuppa di pesce, 2 dishes we've tried at numerous Italian restaurants and we gotta say, the taste from Ca Del Sole definitely stood out. In a good way. A very good way. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients, the care with which it was made, the tender way it was presented. Delicious. The only drawback to the restaurant we could see is the overall ... proper-ness of the restaurant. The parking lot is pretty much entirely by valet only...filled to the brim with nothing but the best from Germany. The hostess seemed a bit too proper. Being in our late 20s, we definitely felt slightly out of place....because we didn't have enough white hairs and we didn't have enough zeros after our paychecks. So, this is definitely not your mom and pop place for italian. But it certainly tasted that way.

Really enjoy this place it has the feel, the look and the taste of an expensive restaurant but it's pretty cheap.... We had a three course meal Each ... Just wife and I with drinks for about 64.00 bucks and it was good!!!!

I had the pleasure of attending a family gathering here this past Sunday afternoon and I was impressed with the variety of delicious appetizers that came our way during the gathering. Highlights included the BBQ shrimp, chicken meatballs, bruschetta and a pear and gorgonzola on toast that was wonderfully delicious. What I also found delightful in addition to the food was the lovely back patio where the gathering was held. The event was to pay respect and say good-bye to a very honorable man and I appreciated the restaurant's staff attentiveness and reverence during the gathering. I would definitely go back for either dinner with a client or lunch with my family on a Sunday.

Hidden Gem, but they make it difficult to enjoy their decent happy hour specials. Havent had a full meal there so the 3 is based on .....valet parking primarily ,unless you get tricky on the street...bar tender tried to rush us out of there it

This is one of our favorite restaurants! I'm not a ravioli fan, but Ca Del Sole makes some of the best and I find myself always ordering some here. They also have a tasting menu that's really affordable where you can try all sorts of different and exotic food that you wouldn't normally try otherwise. And it's all so tasty and terrific. And the desserts are worth saving room for.

We were running late. Our reservation at Katsuya Hollywood was for 7:30, and it was 7:00. We live in Encino. Rats. We did the right thing and cancelled our Katsuya reservation. ( Sigalert.com all but laughed when I checked traffic between the Valley and Hollywood -- the travel time exceeded the average human life span.) With a show at the Key Club to catch at 10:00, our options were slim. We searched OpenTable for an 8:30 reservation in our area, laughing at ourselves for even trying. It was a Friday night, after all. Miraculously, it seemed, the Gods smiled; An 8:30 reservation was to be had at Ca Del Sole, in Toluca Lake. My (yet-to-be, at the time) wife had taken me to Ca Del Sole just after we'd met, long ago; we both had fond memories of the place. Only in hindsight do I realize that the Gods, while smiling, were also stifling a hearty laugh; Reservations made 90 minutes beforehand on a Friday night do not come without a cost. The 'cost,' in our case, is detailed below: "I just started," our benign and mostly inert hostess stated as we walked through the doors. "I'm not sure where you should be seated." She pecked at the computer for a few minutes until her trainer arrived. We were then quickly shown to an outside table, which turned out to be situated in the coldest regions of Antarctica. My wife and I decided to move to a table by a heater, which, though not in the designated outside smoking section, became the designated outside smoking section nonetheless. (It should be known that I am a smoker, but do not smoke in areas -- especially within restaurants -- where smoking is not expected. Honestly, if you have to smoke, take a few steps to the tables with the ash trays. A little walking may do you some good.) So, as the pungent fumes from Boy George (not necessarily his/her real name, but a fair approximation of his/her exterior) and his companion wafted through virtually every ringlet of our Calamari appetizer, we asked to move again. After this, we finally had a choice location in a semi-enclosed 'tent' at the patio's perimeter. Then a woman, in the tent to our left, started laughing. Or cackling. Or a bizarre, witch-like, and not-of-this Earth combination of the two. Regardless of description, the 'make-the-dogs-cry' sound emanating from this so-called person could have coked an entire meal, sonic-microwave style. Thankfully, she quieted down by the time our main courses arrived. Which took awhile. You'll notice that none of my complaints so far have anything to do with the food. Unfortunately, this only has to do with the way I've structured my review, and is not an attempt to save the best for last. The Calamari appetizer, perhaps made better by the infusion of Parliament smoke selflessly bequeathed by Boy George's doppleganger, was listless. Even after being smoked, it had a distinct sogginess only surpassed by an unexpected, fishy flavor. (A squid is not a fish.) And yes, by the time they arrived, our Rib-Eye's were charred to perfection. However, these purported "dry-aged, prime cuts" were so riddled with gristle that even the mighty T-Rex, had he lived to dine at Cal Del Sole, would have had trouble chewing them. And the dessert? We didn't even bother. My comments above should be taken with a grain or two of salt; I still have fond memories of my first visit to Ca Del Sole, when I believe I had one of their pasta dishes (which, at least according to other reviewers, are still excellent). So, two stars for this recent visit. (The patio setting, when finally free from Boy George and his Parliaments, is truly exquisite.) But four stars given in memory of my first, wonderful visit, years ago. All together? Three stars. Just be sure to visit on a Wednesday, and order the pasta.

Whew...this place is a keeper! I loved it. Now let me tell you, if you have seen my reviews, I dont NOT throw out 5 stars like it aint no thang. But here... I pretty much have to. Let me explain: -arrived at 7:30 on a Friday night and was seated immediately. -Good glass of wine. -Nice waiter! -THE CHICKEN ENTREE WAS ENOUGH TO FILL ME AND MY HUSBAND AND WAS DELICIOUS AT ONLY $17! -I had a great bowl of soup too! -Upon exit, they gave us coupons for next time! I am pretty much going to say this is a 3-4 star level styled place, but the chicken (whole or half, cant remember) entree was so incredible. Its basically a home made in a big skilled chicken with veggies and potatoes. Its healthy, no crazy sauces, and flawlessly presented. I cant believe we were able to both get full off a $17 dollar entree at a place this "nice". Anyway- I will continue to go back and order the same thing forever. I hope i run into Larry David like the previous yelper!!! **quite surprising he hangs in the valley, eh?**

I have been to Ca Del Sole 3 times in about 11 years living in the area. The first time, in 2002, I sat at the bar with my boss, and I do not remember much. I returned last year for a Bridal Shower Brunch and thought is was lovely. Last week, we went for a Valentine's day lunch, it was good! Pretty ambiance outside. You feel like you are in another country behind the walls of Ca Del Sole. The brunch I had last year was outstanding! Food - 5 stars Ambience - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Lunch on Valentine's Day Antipasto - Frito Misto and Burrata Pasta - Pasticchio and Rigatoni The bread, especially the foccacia is delish, as well as the tapenade. Food - 3 stars (entree was a little on the over salted side) Ambience - 5 stars Service - 3 stars (not busy yet service was inconsistent) Parking is Valet. Which always makes me chuckle when I can see my car in front of me. $3.50 to park in the lot. I think Ca Del Sole is a nice place and I will go back, most definitely for brunch!

This place was great! They have an incredible patio outside that's perfect for groups. Came here with a group of 6 on a Monday night and it was pretty busy! Some of us ordered from the prix fixe menu and others ordered a la carte. My only issue with this place is that we waiting almost 30 - 35 minutes in between our first and second course. That being said, it was totally worth it. The server was incredibly helpful when asked questions about the menu and extremely attentive (constantly filling our water glasses, etc). Since our meal took close to 2.5 hours, we started to get chilly as it got later in the evening. The server brought out one of those tall space heaters for us which did wonders! It was just that extra effort our server made for us that was really appreciated. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I had the pumpkin ravioli (which, by the way, is VERY VERY sweet). The ravioli comes in a butter sauce, but even the salt from the butter couldn't hide how sweet the pumpkin stuffed raviolis were. Next time, I think I'll try another dish.

IDK how this place has all these good reviews. It was horrible. Like seriously my husband was mad at me for making him go there. haha. Everything we ordered was just not good. I cant be more specific. Im sorry. You can go at your own risk but dont say I didnt warn ya.

My first time there with a good friend of mine. Had never been before but wanted Italian, and the description of their restaurant and food on their website looked very intriguing. Not disappointed in any category! Service was great, booth very comfortable, martini cold, and the food was DIVINE! I had the chicken sausage lasagna which was so good, I had to keep from swallowing without chewing! Next time, I'm going for the linguine and clams! Definitely a winner in my book!

My husband googled this place and saw an awesome reviews! We just have to try it! And yes indeed we did! Our first time, so we made sure that we had a reservation...we came early because we are a happy hour avid! So as our hostess sat us down to our table, she had explained that happy hour is only being served at the bar. And we can't be at the dinner table . But she had assured us that when we come back we'll have a good table. Happy hour appertizers was great $5 can't beat that ! I could taste the tangy red sauce ( which usually its sweet) my husband ordered the bruschetta it was good. I didn't taste it thou. So we went and dine it at the dinner table. I ordered the Osso Bucco and he had the duck gnocchi . I have never seen an orange sauce in my entire life! The cappellini spaghetti was so thick , and so dry not enough sauce! Too high on sodium as well! The osso bucco was not bad, tender again too dry ! My husband he'll eat everything lol! The ambiance was nice...but too many bugs flying around cuz it's an open garden. They should spray some bug repellant early morning! For dessert, oh my I ordered Tiramisu! Failed! It didn't go well on my taste buds! So far, if you ask me, If I want to go back here. I would say "NO"!!!! even their prices are great! No offense, their services are impeccable. But the food didn't go well on my ends. I have eaten everywhere...this is not my cup of tea...as an italian food. I find it more like mexican italian food...because of too much jalapenos on their spices...sincerely yours my own taste buds

I asked the gay boyfriend how would he review this place. The following are all his quotes: "Valet parking? Do you have cash?" "Oh look, there's a spot on the street." "Yes, it's loading only but you can park there after 7 p.m." "Where are we sitting? Why are they taking us so far into the restaurant?" "Oh, we get a big table!" "I want a salad. How big are they? Oh, they look like a good size. The artichoke one looks good." I say something about not knowing how raw artichokes would taste. "Okay, I'll get the other salad then." They have about 6 different salads. I didn't think for $8 it was a big enough portion but he seemed happy with it. "I'll also have fish. Hm, salmon or ahi?" He ended up ordering the ahi, just seared as he likes it that way. I, however, ordered the four-course meal for $31. I got the scallops appetizer which was four scallops (tiny ones!) still in the shell with a pretty good garlic-y tomato sauce. I also had a veal pappardelle pasta, pancetta wrapped black cod on a bed of lentils and the grappa grapes dessert. The server was nice and gave the gay boyfriend his own grappa grapes dessert which he loves as he loves grapes. I liked the pasta but felt the fish with the lentils was SO small. Then again, I did get four courses so each course was appropriate for the course. The grappa was a bit overwhelming for me but I enjoyed the sorbet. Service was good though they had to keep refilling our drinks because the glasses are so small. The gay boyfriend would like me to note the size of the glasses are so small he confused the salt shaker with the glass at some point. We got there at 7:30 for our reservations and didn't leave until after 9. It took a while to get all the food and if we weren't in a rush to go to a movie, it wouldn't have seemed so painful. The comments coming from the gay boyfriend were: "I'm so hungry." - said in his normal voice "hungry." - said in a peeved voice "h u n g r y"- said in a whiny voice I'd probably recommend not ordering multiple courses if your dining partner only got two. Still, while the food was good, we probably won't be rushing back here anytime soon. Maybe for brunch though. And finally when asked how many stars he'd give it, he said, "Three!" So there you go!

Was in LA on business and was catching a flight out of Burbank so we decided to stop and get a bite here. I'm so glad we did! We started off at the bar ordering martinis (it was a LONG business trip). Asked for extra dirty, extra olives (yeah, that's how I like it). Yeah, the bartender didn't exactly listen to my request, but it was quickly rectified! We waited for a short period of time for a table outside (they were still setting up). It was GORGEOUS. The patio is a MUST. We ate under a cute little cabana. Coworker ordered the bruschetta to start and it was delicious. Fresh tomatoes, basil, mmmmm. The olive tapenade that comes with the regular French bread was pretty yummy, too. Coworker ordered the quail (which was bacon-wrapped which is probably the only reason I enjoyed the piece I had). It's a BIRD! But it tastes like chicken, so fine. I ordered the pumpkin ravioli in a sage butter sauce. DELISH. Perfect to get you in the fall mood. Would definitely recommend this again!

My family and I were staying at the Hilton next to Universal Studios... Sorry but they lack good food in their City Walk. We ended up trying Ca'Del Sole based on some Yelp reviews. GREAT food. I forgot that great service always adds to the experience. That's what we had both for lunch and dinner. Food was prepared perfectly. Gotta try the fritto misto. They had lamb on one of their pre-fixed menu.. had to go for it. Wife had the Osso Buco.. son had Ravioli al Pesto, & daughter had lasagna di Pollo. Tried all of them. ALL GOOD. Only thing they can improve is their Caesar salad. The server was very attentive and friendly... as all staff. Will be going there again if in the vicinity.

I'm going to focus on the good, first: great wine prices. lovely patio. OK. Now the bad: Food was exceptionally moderate at upper-scale price points. Service. was. awful. Went on a Sunday night with a large party. The restaurant was pretty much deserted, yet it took us twenty minutes just to get WATER, and the rest was essentially down-hill. Polite and all, but ridiculously slow.

This might be the best Italian food I've had in LA. The gnocchi with duck is delicious and everything on the menu is pretty reasonably priced considering its a little fancy. It's also a great place to see celebrities since it's right next to the Universal Studios lot. In fact, last time I was there for lunch, I sat about 8 feet from George Clooney.

Love this place! It's super close to work and is a great place for a lunch break. The food is great and is done artfully, while the atmosphere is casual and light. I had the frutti de mare (but that's not what it's called on the menu) and my friend had the lobster ravioli, both of which were deliiiiicious. I can't wait to come back here and try the wild mushroom salad YOMM.

I'm a big brunch person, and I had heard lots of great things about this place. So when my sister-in-law threw me a surprise party here, I was excited to get to eating! The bread and olive tapenade they start you off with is good. The rest was just so-so. I got a mushroom & asiago omelette and made it egg whites only. It came with Rosemary potatoes. I wasn't impressed by either. I absolutely never add table salt to my food, and I was actually tempted to do so because of the lack of flavor. We shared a waffle with chocolate sauce and bananas for dessert, it was good but a little stingy with the chocolate, definitely could've used more. I'm guessing their dinner items are better, but I still don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. Good thing I was with wonderful company, they made my day :)

The Mozzarella Cheese for the Caprese here is divine. I've been here twice just to eat it! The ambiance is nice during the day and the night. I prefer avoiding happy hours when its busy. Its a short walk from the red line station (Universal City) and the staff is friendly.

We went to the restaurant for my Brother in Laws birthday party! We had the back private banquet room, and the entire back patio area for the after party! What a spectacular time we had! The meal was simply AMAZING! My favorite was the lasagna! homemade perfection that just MELTS in your mouth! And the Calamari and shrimp fritta plate was to die for! Service was absolutely great and the food was even better! Compliments to the chef! I highly recommend this restaurant for both an evening out, or special events!

I've been here twice now, the latest time last evening. First of all, this used to be the location of one of my favorite restaurants, Maison Gerard, which I miss. I had no problem with the service or much of anything, but it's one of those restaurants that just has one thing in practically every dish that I don't want to eat. I favor simplicity and I don't need these trendy little items in my food - in fact, they make me want to vomit on the ground. But I'm pretty good at sussing out what I'll like and that's what I did last night. I had pasta in a tomato-cream sauce with hot sausage (not - unless they meant hot as in hot, not spicy) and cheese (pecarino, I think) and peas (I think). It wasn't a large portion, but it was tasty - smoky-flavored a little, but robust flavors and prepared well. Prior to that I had a Caesar salad, which was very good. So, all in all it's fine.

This is my favorite restaurant ever! Everything on the menu is amazing and the servers are very attentive. We had our engagement party on the back patio here and everyone was very pleased. Most recently, I brought my 4 1/2 year old son here for a day-early Valentine's Day date night and he absolutely LOVED the food and atmosphere. This is a place I have enjoyed for years with my family and will continue to dine at.

I have been to Ca Del Sole twice, the first time for dinner, the 2nd and most recent time for Sunday Brunch. Sat on the patio, great food, great service and beautiful day. A win win all the way around, as the young lady I took, who had not been there before, loved the experience.

If you want a romantic dinner with tons of ambiance, look no further. This place rocks with it, eat outside in one o the tents, the lighting, the privacy is off the chart fabulous. food was good, but I've only been once so I don't know the menu, but for romantic, just awesome.

I've eaten here on several occasions as well as a private event and do not have a single complaint. The space has a great ambiance and if you're here on a nice evening which isn't hard to come by in LA the outdoor seating is amazing. Great service, great drinks and the food is to die for. I have had a number of items from the menu and each is as delicious as the next. Fritto Misto, Pumpkin Ravioli and Gnocchi just to name a few. You can't go wrong here.

Ca del Sole struck me as a typical Valley Italian restaurant: - outdated decor (framed landscape paintings and a brick fireplace painted white)....I would have liked to have been out on the outdoor patio with the fairy lights, but they said it's closed during the winter. - decent food, not too expensive. I had the pumpkin lune ravioli with butter sauce and Parmesan---no complaints here. Gnocchi Bolognese were ok, though a bit mushy. Both pasta dishes were both under $15. Though if you're looking to continue the cheapness, don't add the suggested salad as it will add another $7 to your tab. MIxed drinks were also pretty cheap: $6.50 for Svedka vodka and pineapple juice, while a bottle of Moretti was $5. - full of old people (including Larry David, apparently, who to me blended in among the sea of gray/bald so I didn't recognize him until my dining companions told me later)

This is hands down my favorite place to go for a quiet and romantic dinner with Mr. P. Sit outside at a canopy table if you can, it makes all the difference. The ambiance is amazing, the food is always delicious, the wine list is quite impressive and they have a swanky bar area too. I'd give this place more stars if I could ... and I'm looking forward to dining here again soon.

I haven't been in a while, but when I did I remember the food to be good and the dessert better. Sorry, I'm so vague, but I was at Warner Bros this week and Ca Del Sole is around the corner...ahhh, I haven't Yelp'd about this place yet so I'm taking the opportunity to say it's the best Italian I've had in the Valley. Oh, I can't forget to mention that I saw Vin Diesel on the next table with three amazingly gorgeous (renta) women. A friend was unimpressed: "you know he's gay..." I was jealous, but now I'm just confused.

This is almost the only option for a business lunch within walking distance from my office. I don't mean to overstate the elegance of Ca del Sole restaurant, but it and Le Petit Chateau are the nicest restaurants of which I am aware in the Universal City/North Hollywood/Toluca Lake area. (Please message me if I am missing something!) I usually eat salad for lunch and was disappointed by the descriptions of salads on the Ca del Sole menu. Instead, I ordered the Maine lobster linguine special for about $15. It was truly delicious with plenty of lobster morsels and I devoured every last strand. My fellow diners ordered pasta dishes from the menu and I was impressed with the arugula salad that accompanied their pasta. They also had a celebrity sighting, but I didn't notice. I think the food and service at Ca del Sole is superior to, say, Sisley, but it could use some more creative salads on the menu. For a one-course lunch, Ca del Sole is a $$ restaurant ($25 PP), but when you add wine or more than one course, it becomes a $$$ meal.

This is a lovely place, much better for an relaxed outdoor brunch or alfresco dining in the evening than for a dinner indoors, in my opinion. Stuffy inside, lovely out. I feel like I'm in Italy when I'm there, dining in a garden at some villa. Sorry, I don't have a favorite dish to recommend to you but I've never not enjoyed anything either.

This is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles hands down. The perfect mix of amazing food and great wine and beer selections with the best wait staff and very affordable prices. The menu changes often but they have a select number of dishes that always are there. I am always looking to see what they have on their price fix dinner because it is always an amazing deal. The skirt steak is one of my favorite dishes that they make and I always order it when it is on the menu. The deserts are some of the best out there and always top off the meal perfectly not to mention the espresso. I come here as often as possible and am a huge fan!

Have been here several times, only for lunch, especially when I was working nearby in Burbank. Never been disappointed in the food, they have a full bar, nice outside seating, decent tasting menu options if you want small plates of multiple dishes. Generally speaking, known for relatively small portions, but the food is great in my opinion. Never have had problems with service, tho' occasionally can be slow if they are super busy as expected with any restaurant i guess. There is street parking right outside the restaurant if you're lucky.

This is the best place for an outdoor dinner in this area. The patio is absolutely amazing and it feels as though you're actually in Italy (I'm from Europe so this makes me feel like home....). Food... really, really good. They recently added some new items to their appetizers, one of which is a piadina which is incredibly hard to find in LA. The Salumeria plate is divine and is a perfect starter with a glass of bubbly. Wine list... impressive. They have a great range of affordable to pricey wines and there's a LOT to choose from. They also have a great selection of Grappa, which is hard to come by in this town. Desserts... the perfect ending with a digestivo. The lava cake is fantastic. Service... the waiters here are so, so, so nice and make you feel special every single time. All in all, this place is great for a nice relaxed dinner any night of the week. But patio seating is a must.

I went here for a wedding a long time ago, and once before that for another catered event, so this was my first time as an actual paying customer, so I really was curious as to how an entire meal off the menu would be. I have to say, dang good! We sat outside under one of the cabanas, which really was nice. The weather had just cooled enough, so we were very comfortable out there. We started with the Frito Misto and Caprese Salad. The calamari was very nice, nice and light. The Caprese was amazing, I flippin' love that burrata cheese they used. Mmmmm. I had the Ossobuco (I think I order that anytime I see it on the menu) and it was wonderful. The veal was nice and tender and the sauce was really tasty, loved the lemon zest. Hubby had the pumpkin ravioli, which he said he enjoyed, but I didn't taste it. We had the Affogato (vanilla bean ice cream with the espresso), man was that good. The service was great. Our server, Porfirio, was wonderful. He laughed at all of my jokes, which shows his great sense of humor... Okay, best part, we used a gift certificate I bought on restaurant.com which we bought at a discount. Love that restaurant.com (and if you are a upromise member they do serious discounts regularly). As a paying customer, I'll be back!

This is a neighborhood place. I didn't think it was horrible, but not that great either. I ordered the sweet potato ravioli..it was good, but I've had a more richer, browner, butter sauce. The courtyard was cute, but interesting how you can hear the Lankershim traffic zooming by behind the wall. And there was hardly anyone there, tho it was a Tuesday. We ordered the squash blossoms, Ahi Tuna plate, and my dish. All were solid, but not mind-blowing. The prices were reasonable and as much as several reviews said the service is less than par, it was noticeably good to us.

december 23, 2012 a late dinner after long day. What luck to have come to Ca Del Sole1 I can't remember a more relaxing meal all year. We were 5, all with different tastes. I asked the waiter for good sangiovese. He delivered and it was as smooth as chocolate milk. Service was patient but not at all indifferent--we had PLENTY of timely attention. But I'm writing this because NOBODIES ITALIAN GRANDMOTHER MAKES BETTER GNOCCHI. and I really mean it. It was almost unbelievable it was so good. the other end of the planet from the bubblegum style gnocci you get to chew at some Italian joints. Gotta return for more of that. Everything else was really quite nice. This is one of those DON'T-NEED-TO-KNOW ABOUT-ANYPLACE ELSE. Wish this one was closer to home! to them i say THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

The three star rating is mostly for the ambiance. I highly recommend the patio seating. The food however was so-so. Three things really bugged me: 1. I asked the waiter if I can swap out spaghetti for linguine and he said, "No we don't have linguine." Well, what kind of Italian establishment is this? Does that mean they don't make fresh pasta and the dry, from the box, pasta was barely stocked? 2. I asked for Parmesan cheese and the waiter scooped it out of a glass bowl and dropped it on my pasta. Most Italian places have chunks of cheese to shave on top of your dish but I guess Kraft will do. 3. They mentioned gelato and my heart was aflutter. "What kinds do you have?" The waiter replies, "Just vanilla"...What no chocolate? "We can put some chocolate sauce on top if you like" I could only imagine it was Hersheys. If it wasn't the fact that he gave us discount coupons I would forget the disappointing experience.

So my boyfriend has been raving about this place for months. I looked up the menu on line and was really entrigued and excited to go here. Our reservations were for a friday night. We were seated right away. The patio looked gorgeous but ufortunately it was too cold to sit out there. The decor inside needs MAJOR updates. It looks like a outdated dining room at a country club or a hotel.....on Oklahoma. We started with the carpaccio. I was really excited because this is one of my favorite starters. Well, I was very underwhelmed. It was a bit tasteless, cut a little too thick and should have probably been served over greens with something drizzled over it. For the entree I had the Salmon which was AMAZING. So tender. My boyfriend had the gnochi with duck rague. Also delicious, (very strong taste). For dessert we had the tiramisu. Also underwhelmed. The lady fingers weren't moist enough so it almost seemed like they were trying to pass off coffee cake as tiramisu. As for the service. oy! Both me and my boyfriend found BUGS in our water. We called the waiter over and all he said was "Oh yeah, that happens in this booth sometimes because of the overhead light." WHAT?! first of all, there are overhead lights everywhere. second of all, how about an APOLOGY?! thirdly, there should never be bugs in a restaraunt FOR ANY REASON! Aside from this we had some other problems with our waiter which I wont go into. BOTTOM LINE: I'd probably order take out from this place but wouldn't actually eat there.

The first time I came here (around 2001), I saw Chotchi. Or Chatchi, or however it is you spell that dude's name. It was so funny, because he was courting some gal and her dad. Or maybe it was her agent. But man, he was workin' it. One out of every 3 times you go, if it's a late lunch or weekend dinner, you will probably see a celebrity. The food here is very good. It really is. The servers generally come by with a bit of 'tude, but I'm sure it's because anyday they're about to become the next Billy Bob Thornton. (Everytime I eat in Burbank, Pasadena, Santa Monica or North Hollywood, I always wonder if the servers are "actors"). The pasta dishes are okay, but I recommend the chicken, veal or beef. They are mediums-sized, glazed and well prepared (soft inside, light crispy outside). Maybe you'll get to see Chotchi/Chatchi bust a move on his latest!

My husband and I had dinner here tonight. It was pleasant. I love the restaurant and the atmosphere. The decor was great, very cozy and romantic. It was also pretty quiet in the restaurant which I appreciated since most seem so loud these days. The staff and service as very friendly and efficient. Its a great place for a date or romantic dinner. The food was good but not exceptionally so. I would probably go back but its not the best italian food I've ever had. Its priced fair but the portions are not huge. The bread was ok, but really not great, which was a big let down to me. I love bread and one of the primary reasons I want to eat at an italian restaurant is to enjoy some good, warm bread. I give it four stars just because i wasn't unsatisfied with the food and I love the decor! Def a very elegant, romantic atmosphere.

I've been here many times and it's always been great, unit now. I don't know what happened to the chef, but all four of our dish's were terrible. Soooo dissapointed. I'll try it one more time since I've been going there for years, but I'm telling you it was gross!!!

Expensive for what it is, but that's most Italian places. Come up with an amount in your head, then add another $4-5 a plate. Not the most-impressive food. In fact, a couple dishes in our dining party were overdone. The real star is the outdoor seating. It is secluded-feeling, casual, and nice with the foliage and Christmas lights. You don't feel like you're butting right up next to Cahuenga.

Consistently good food, with a very pleasant and attentive staff. I love the mezzalune, which is a crescent shaped pasta stuffed with pumpkin, served in a butter and sage sauce...Simply Delicioso!! P.S. Very Nice patio, with lots of crawling vines...good date spot.

There is a special lunch insert but it appears to be a prix fixe type of thing for $23 which by my book makes for a pretty expensive lunch. There were some entrees on the regular menu that were $10 or less that were just the perfect lunch size, quantity-wise. And then theres everything else which is significantly past the $10 barrier. My companions were pleased with the Gnocchi and the Gnochetti. I ordered the Piadine Grigliate with Seared Ahi tuna, caramelized onion, black olives, capers, curly endive. My dish looked large but did not leave me stuffed. I thought I was ordering something like pizza but actually it was the previously mentioned toppings on a really thin crispy flat bread. It was pretty good. The patio was a great dining area. It was easy to forget that the restaraunt was adjacent to busy streets except when big trucks rolled by at which point it was hard to hear anyone at the table speak. Still, the patio has ample shaded seating and is hedged off from the street or other businesses so it feels somewhat secluded, sort of. The wait staff is reasonably friendly and quick to attend to drink refills. It's too bad that they have valet parking for lunch time instead of just letting people self-park considering how big a lot they seem to have. I only went to this place because I was meeting people who work near CityWalk and I was sick of eating at CityWalk for lunch and this was close by. Realistically I can't imagine coming back here again any time soon with so many other good things to try out in the Studio City/North Hollywood area. Still, the waiter did give us a handful of 10% off coupons for brunch, lunch, and dinner. I expect my CityWalk friends will be back sooner than later to this place.

Food was REALLY BAD. Have had better frozen meals in my life. Servers were not all that friendly and it was so loud if you were to break one of their plates over my head I would never hear it.

Food was tasty and very reasonably priced. Waiters don't bother you by frequently asking you how things are and filling of waters. I had wild boar sausage, and Prosciutto and mozzarella. A cozy place that feels like a family-run establishment.

I am not writing a review about the food or the decor as I've never actually been to Ca' Del Sole, but I certainly do not intend to ever pay them a visit. My boss was arranging a party here and I stepped in toward the end to help finalize some details. They had gone over some preliminary details (the date/time, the private room, early menu selections, etc) and he was supposed to confirm on the Friday before the event, which was on the following Tuesday. His bad, he wasn't able to because there were the proverbial fires to put out at work. I'm sure no one can relate to that... On the Monday, I left Natalya, the event coordinator, a voice mail with the final selections and a few questions. I said she could speak with me if he were not available. I didn't hear back from her so I called again on the Tuesday (day of event) but my call went straight to voice mail. I called the hostess and was informed she had Monday off, which is why I did not hear back from her. Obviously that is understandable so I just left word. My boss' phone rang when he was in a meeting. I did not recognize the caller's voice but informed her he was not available and asked to take a message. She very curtly gave her name and said she needed to speak with him immediately. I asked if she had listened to my voice mail, in which I said she could speak with me, remember. She then told me she didn't know when the event was taking place. Uhm, it was for that evening... She asked me what time, which was not documented in his notes. I told her I was trying to assist with certain information (re the menu) and, unfortunately, I didn't have that information immediately at hand but would certainly be able to get it for her. In the meantime, was my message clear about the menu? She said she would email an itinerary then I conferenced in my boss to confirm the time. When he came on the line, suddenly she knew what time the event was starting. Hmmm. They confirmed the time then I asked one of the menu questions. He decided to do a pasta bar and wanted to know what kinds of pasta he could choose from since he was only selecting three options. I thought she might include the information in the proposal, but since my boss was on the line, might as well simplify and get her the necessary information immediately, right? "We have different kinds of pasta," she informed us. Gee, I would hope so if you're offering a SELECTION. I asked if she could be more specific and she said, "It's an Italian restaurant." Huh? Firstly, Natalya, have you ever heard of CUSTOMER SERVICE? Secondly, you work in the restaurant business. Surely you would know that different regions have different styles and, further to that, different restaurants offer their own variations. Wow. I was ASTOUNDED by how fantastically rude Natalya was. I empathize with her a little. Yes, I imagine it is frustrating to get the details for an event with very short notice. But the bottom line is, he is the guest, the paying customer. It's shocking that this is the level of service offered by a reasonably expensive restaurant. I've had better customer service at the gas station. UPDATE: Natalya was much more pleasant and accommodating in later interactions, so I changed the two stars to three.

this used to be our favorite restaurant. unfortunately, either they've gone downhill or we've gone uphill. after several years absence, we came here for our anniversary dinner assuming the place would have that old black magic. to start, it felt like walking into a time capsule - not a thing had changed in easily a decade... even the old couple dining in the corner was the exact same old couple (or so it seemed). and while that could be seen as "not changing a good thing," it felt more like "hanging on to the good old days." even with a full parking lot and mostly filled tables, the place had a stale vibe that we just couldn't shake. service was excruciatingly slow... took forever to get just bread and water. seemed like everyone who'd come in after us were getting served before us. the wait staff were not rude - just apathetic. the food, though, was the biggest disappointment. bland and blah. from the aforementioned bread (cmon, any decent restaurant has good warm bread to start), to our former favorite dish, the pumpkin ravioli, and some kind of lobster tortellini, had very little flavor was was drowned in nearly tasteless cream sauce. so alas, our anniversary dinner was not what we'd hoped. and yet we still managed to have a good time anyway. dessert at the Castaway overlooking the valley took the lack of taste out of our mouths.

If I lived in a perfect world and didn't give a rat's arse what I thought about what people think when I am eating in a fine dining establishment such as this one, I would order a super expensive bottle of the yummiest wine on their list. I wouldn't even ask for a glass, just give me the damn bottle and let me hold onto it like a cat in heat. Then I would ask for a HUUUUGE basket of their bread and sit there all by myself, clenching my bottle and polish off a few bowls of that crack-like olive tapenade they serve you when you first sit down. I would! And in that perfect world, I would have no shame and I would be smiling so wide that even if there were olives nestled in between my teefs I wouldn't care at all. Newp, not a bit! But, sadly, I don't live in that world, but I do live in the world that gives your party a dish filled with yumminess and they will give you glasses to drink your wine from when you come here for brunch, lunch or dinner with friends. It's a fantastic little place that is great for a bite or a date or even a wedding. My friend got married here and it was great! So check it, you won't be sorry! :)

I went here with my husband and a friend for a pre theatre dinner on Saturday. The patio setting was charming. Our waiter, with his Italian accent was charming and efficient. Our dinners were very good. my husband had the risotto of the day which was creamy and delicious. I was not very hungry, so I had 2 first courses, the octopus which was beautiful and tasty and the house cured beef. Both were quite delicious and substantial. We shared the gelato cream puffs which were good. Definitely would go back and try other tempting thiings on the menu like the pumpkin ravioli.

My wife and I, along with a guest, were seated at a fine patio table last night about 6:30, 6/2/11, and it was very pleasant to this point. We ordered drinks, salads, bruchetta, and pasta. The drinks were okay, two of the salads were served without dressing...cook forgot. I had to get up and search for ground pepper for the salads....waiter not to be found, the bruchetta was served on dry french bread with only big chunks of tomato..no oil, no garlic, not toasted, $12 bucks, the pasta was gummy, cold and without much flavor. Not a good experience and a big dissapointment compared with previous experience at this restaurant. Service........... D- Food................D- Atmosphere.....B+

Visited Ca Del Sole for a business lunch and I must say I was pretty impressed. Ambiance is great! We had Fritto Misto for an appetizer and Tortelloni for entree. Emjoyed the fritto misto and that's saying a lot because I am not a fan of zucchini but with the tartar sauce it was pretty okay. Tortelloni is phenomenal but I could have used more saffron broth :( All in all a pleasant experience and I would probably revisit.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while. I've heard from a few people that it has great food. They were right! We started with the calamari that is lightly breaded and fried. We also had the fresh mozzarella and prosciutto, which was heavenly. The server recommended the pumpkin ravioli and we also ordered the braised short ribs. Everything was awesome and very high quality. It is a little pricy but totally worth it!

Went here the day before Thanksgiving, it was empty when we arrived at 8pm. No prob, I saw the yelp reviews were good, plus we had a restaurant.com coupon. I heard about the beautiful patio, but it was cold so we were seated near a fireplace. The atmosphere was homey and comfortable. The waiter was new, so he didn't have a lot of opinions on various dishes, but he was surprisingly well versed on the menu. We skipped appetizers since we were planning on ordering dessert. I dont eat seafood or mushrooms, and I love risotto, so I asked the waiter to change the shrimp to chicken and it was no problem. My man got the wild boar over polenta- his was good! It was so rich and comforting, very stick to the ribs! My risotto was awesome too! The dessert was only so-so. We ordered the sorbet trio, which had pear, passion fruit, and one other.. I loved the passion fruit but the pear tasted more like cinnamon than fruit! The place was good, and we'll definetely go back!

A friend of mine who loved this place took me here on a random weekday evening (Wednesday i think). We found street parking really easily, and when we entered the doors at around 8pm or so, the place was pretty quiet. We chose to sit outside, which had a very enchanting atmosphere. Here, I noticed a lot of dates happening around me, but i didn't feel awkward at all since the tables were pretty far from each other. Lots of breathing room... First of all, they gave free bread and that crushed olives and oil dip. I always give an extra star for restaurants that give free things! :) For an appetizer, my friend chose for us to share a caprese salad. I usually don't like cheese anything because I'm lactose intolerant, but my buddy warned me to take my pills because it was worth it. After my first bite of the salad, i was hooked. We were fighting for the mozzarella with our forks, and in a few minutes it was all gone. For dinner it was tough to choose what meal i wanted. I heeded the warnings of other yelpers with the food portions, as well as my friend's mom who had to order two of her meals. I originally asked for the Ossobuco, but my waiter told me it was a small portioned meal, so i then asked for the risotto with shrimp and garlic. I was first scared that i was going to be real hungry after this meal, but when the waiter brought out this nice sized pot of risotto, i was relieved. While working on my food, i noticed that they didn't skimp on anything. The flavor was amazing, there was a lot of shrimp, and the whole garlic chunks were so sweet and delicious. It was absolutely the best risotto I've ever had! YUM!!! The next day i had dreams about the risotto, it was that serious. To sum it up, i would definitely go back here again. It's a little pricey to go every week, but for the atmosphere and the food, i think it's totally worth it.

I like this place more for its ambience, service and location, less for its menu. Personally, the menu is tricky for me with seemingly odd choices like Elk Toungue or Rabbit leg. Not your normal Italian fare. That being said, the red pepper and creamy mozzerella appetizer was supremely delicious. The entre I had was mediocre but only because they did what all restaurants do with seafood pasta- cheap out on the seafood and overload the pasta portion. C'est la vie. The 3 stars instead of 4 is solely because we were seated beside a party of 15 that included 6 screaming, running, wild children. They ruined everyone's dinners around them and I feel like it should fall to the restaurant to ask them to take the criers outside. But that's just me. The very first time I ate there, the only thing memorable was that I spotted Brad Pitt. I couldn't even tell you what I ate but why does it matter? LOL.

Ca Del Sole is a great place to dine with your significant other or a larger group of friends. I've had many fabulous experiences here... each beginning with an amazing bottle of wine and their complimentary bread & addictive olive tapenade. The menu isn't very vegetarian friendly, but whenever I ask, the staff seems more than happy to accommodate.

We often enjoy this lovely Italian restaurant for birthday parties as they comfortably sit tables up to 10 to 12 people. They have a reasonable corkage fee if you want to bring in your own wine, as well as they have a beautiful list of wines on their menu. My favorite dishes are the pumpkin ravioli and the baby artichoke salad. Their portions are very healthy, so they have good plates to share. The outdoor patio seating is very lovely

I LOVED Ca Del Sole! I've been dying to try this place for years, but never got around to it. I finally went this past weekend, and was so happy I finally got to try it! The place was so cute, with indoor and outdoor seating! I got their special of the day which was shrimp and pea risotto. My boyfriend's sister and niece got the spaghetti Bolognese and a ceasar salad which we shared. Everything was so delicious! Including the appetizer bread which they provide. The service was so great. I would happily come again!

This place has a great menu and the Sunday brunch is great! I did however get stabbed by a nail in my chair and they didn't seem to care. They replaced the chair but didn't ask me if i'd gotten my tetanus or anything. Then the guy stabbed himself during the replacement. This could definitely be a dangerous situation for a blood transference. I do love the ambiance there both inside and out and I love the 3 glasses on the mimosa's at brunch.

I was surprised when I got invited here for a work lunch since I've never heard of it but I guess that just makes me a noob because apparently everyone else I talk to has been there lol. It has a wonderful ambiance and good service. The complimentary bread they bring with the olive tapenade was fresh and tasty. We ordered fritto misto and beef carpaccio for appetizers: the fritto came with these little vegetable dumpling style rolls that I've never seen before but were good. Calamari was very meaty and tender. The beef carpaccio was sooo good with the shaved parmesan. I ordered the seafood pasta which was a Venetian style spaghetti. It was unique and the shrimp/mussels/clams were plentiful. It was good but I kind of which I ordered something else. Next time... I'd like to come back at night sometime since their beautiful outdoor patio had quite the loungey vibe. Great date spot! Valet was $3.50 I think which you're probably forced to use since the location doesn't provide convenient parking.

The best Italian in the Valley. Home made pastas and incredible entrees. It's our "go to" for Italian now that we don't live by Beverly Hills any longer. You simply can't go wrong ordering anything on this menu.

Decent atmosphere...probably needs some updating. Very good service, huge wine list, very good food. My sea bass was a bit thin and light portioned but the vegetables it sat on were crisp and perfectly seasoned. The flourless chocolate cake nearly sent me into a choco-coma - highly recommend it. Latte was very tasty.

This place may seem unassuming from the outside but it's very cute inside with a nice patio! Ambiance: Romantic Service: Good. The server was very polite and gave us good recommendations. Food: *LINGUINE NERE CON SALAME CALABRESE E GAMBERI (Squid ink linguini, spicy Calabrese salami, shrimp, cherry tomato sauce) -Very tasty! The pasta was perfectly done al dente. I love the spicy tomato sauce with the shrimp. *MEZZELUNE DI ZUCCA BARUCCA (Half-moon shaped pasta filled with pumpkin, butter sage sauce, parmesan cheese) -Very tasty! A classic. *Flourless chocolate cake -Delicious! Can't go wrong with chocolate cake. Parking: Valet for $3.75 Overall, I'll definitely come back and try some other dishes when I'm craving Italian food.

This place is wonderful. It was my first time there and I enjoyed the ambiance and the food was great. We were a group of 5 and we all had a great time. I ordered the Pan Roasted Scottish Salmon. I love Salmon, and this dish was tender, buttery and cooked perfectly. The pinot grigio was a good match. Aside from my order, I also enjoyed the chef's special lobster pasta that my bf ordered. It was very good and the sauce was full of lobster flavor. As for the dessert, we tried the tiramisu and it was just ok.

After hearing from friends about the great happy hour & dinner menu here, I decided to take my girlfriend out to Ca Del Sole for a fun & hopefully fulfilling date night. Well, I'm excited to say it met all our expectations & then some! We were greeted as if we were regulars by the manager Davide at the host stand then shown to our courtyard table. He recommended two fantastic apps (the meatballs and the calamari) and helped us pair them with a delicious glass of Chianti & Cabernet, respectively. When you start the night feeling appreciated & taken care of, the rest almost goes like clockwork. Thanks to Davide, it did. Our waitress Jessica was more than knowledgable of the menu & her service was timely & informative without being overzealous. And considering we had a lot of questions on what to order, that's saying something! We settled on the pumpkin ravioli and the butter sage tortellini and we were BLOWN AWAY with how delicious they were! We also wanted to pair them with a fitting glass of wine and were pleasantly surprised when the manager, Davide, allowed us to try a small tasting of two Italian reds to make sure we ordered correctly (I stayed w/ Italy while my GF went back to Napa). We would not have made these choices if the staff didn't take such great care of us & were on top off of all things hospitality. We ended the night completely satisfied in terms of menu, service & atmosphere and look forward to going back very soon! Ca Del Sole has definitely become a new favorite place, and considering the names/celebs they get in there, it's very special for a regular, everyday couple to be afforded the same class, taste & experience :-) Thank you Davide, Jessica and the staff!

Had business to attend to in North Hollywood in the evening so to kill two birds with one stone, I called up Ca' del Sole to get a table, but the next open table was for 8:45pm, but I was told the bar was totally open for dinner, walk ins only which was fine by me. In my experience when I dine alone some of my best experiences were at the bar under the wing & care of a competent bartender. Well, I lucked out in being able to be helped by the head bartender, Francisco, who is a long time veteran dating at least back to the early 1990's at Harry's Bar in Century City which tried to imitate the iconic Harry's Bar in Venice, Italy. I remember the Century City Harry's Bar for its most wonderful dessert called Meringata a la Fiorentina which was two thick layers of airy, crispy meringue sandwiching a thick layer of luscious Crème Anglaise filled with candied almonds. I did the DineLA menu which ran for $40, but opted for two dishes that require a supplement of $6 & $10: 1) Capesante al Porto e Porri was 3 plump divers scallops in a demi glace-like heavy, sweetish port wine sauce with lightly battered & fried leeks. The capesante were not over-cooked so retained a soft yet meaty texture with a sweet oceanic undertone. The finely sliced leek was coated with a thin layer of corn starch batter which came out crisp & light. Unfortunately, the port sauce was a bit too sweet & heavy and over-powered a seafood as delicate as scallops. Perhaps a lighter Champagne or Chardonnay sauce would have been more of an ideal fit. 2) Petto d'Anatra all' Espresso was breast of grilled Muscovy duck which was impressively thick & meaty cooked to medium which worked since the meat was so thick that medium rare would have made the meat a bit too tough to cut easily. Swiss Chard was sautéed, but the heat was apparently so hot that it scorched the leaves for a slightly smoky taste possibly to be in concert with the espresso sauce. Caramelized white onions topped the mound of the Swiss chard like snow on top of a mountain peak. The espresso sauce was so generously spooned onto the dish that the Swiss chard soaked it up for a sweet effect throughout which to me was overkill. Maybe the espresso sauce in a small sauce dish to apply to only the duck would have been better so that the Swiss Chard would have acted as a palate cleanser to the meatiness of the duck. 1-2) All the above was paired to Valpolicella (vahl poh lee cheh lah), a red wine from the Veneto region. Usually it tends to be more jammy with strong dark fruits such as brandied cherries, blackberries, black plum with mild tannins & low acid. My Valpolicella was different in that it had a bit more acidity to give a more cleansing effect after eating the Capesante with the port sauce & Anatra with the espresso sauce, and was a good choice in that it was a mellower wine that stood up to the heavier tasting sauces. 3) Bigne dello Chef was equivalent to French Profiterole & our "cream puff". Instead of a Crème Chantilly filling/whipped cream, it was filled with a rather mild, bland Crème Patisserie filling similar to our custard. A dab of chocolate chaud-froid sauce was smeared on top of the pate a choux pastry shell. This was a really boring, insipid dessert so I asked Francisco if there were Banyuls or a Port that would pair & enliven the Bigne (bean yeh). Francisco turned this whole flavourless dessert around by suggesting that I pair it with Gioia (gee oh ee ah) Limoncello Crème which is made in Sorrento, Italia. It's an analog to Bailey's Irish Cream, but not so thick & viscous. The lemon flavor is similar to a Meyer lemon which has soft rounded, mellow orange-like citrus notes, and the light cream enriches & gives a more mouth & tongue coating pleasantness. The rich dairy, citrus zest flavours really augmented to the creaminess of the Bigne's crème patisserie saving this dessert from an ignoble fate of being thrown into the trash. I would give this DineLa dinner a 3 Yelp rating, but under the supervision & assistance of the master Bartender, Francisco who saved this dining event from becoming mediocre, I would like to up it one star. FYI: However, as pleasant as wine pairings can be, the one glass of Valpolicella & Limoncello Crème with the supplements did raise the basic $40 DineLA to $102 by the time tax & tip of 20% are included.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
